UCSB visits Montana State

The UCSB Men's basketball team will be traveling to Montana State to play the Bobcats in Bozeman, MT on Friday, December 18 at 6 pm PT. The Gauchos (4 - 2) will look to end a two-game losing streak. The Bobcats (5 - 4) are led by Bobby Howard, Erik Rush, Marquis Navarre, who average 14.2, 13.2, and 11.0 points per game, respectively. Montana State has a balanced attack as Will Bynum and Branden Johnson average 9.7 and 9.1 points per game, respectively.

The Gauchos also have trio of explosive scorers in Orlando Johnson, James Powell, and James Nunnally, who average 16.7, 11.8 , 11.2 points per game, respectively. Each has scored 20 or more points in a game so far this season. Johnson also leads the Gauchos with 7.0 rebounds, while Jaime Serna and James Nunnally average 4.3 and 4.0 rebounds, respectively.

Each team has a common opponent in the University of San Francisco Dons. The Bobcats defeated the Dons 70 - 66 in a road contest, while the Gauchos beat the Dons 76 - 65 at home in the Thunderdome.

Look for Justin Joyner to see increased playing time as he recovers from a sprained ankle, and more minutes from true freshman Chris Brew as he adjusts to Div. 1 college basketball.
