Drew Dickey walking on at UCSB

Rumor has it that Drew Dickey, a 6'9" forward from St. Francis High in Mountain View, CA, will play for the UCSB Gauchos as a preferred walk-on, starting in the fall of 2012.  Dickey is strong in the paint, and has a nice mid-range jumper.  I will have videos of Dickey posted soon.

UC Santa Barbara Team Notes

UC SANTA BARBARA
UC Santa Barbara must part with seniors Orlando Johnson, James Nunnally, Jaime Serna, Greg Somogyi and Christian Peterson after suffering an 86-83 loss to Idaho in the first round of the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament. Johnson, the Gauchos' career scoring leader, and Nunnally, who finished fourth all-time in scoring at UC Santa Barbara, formed one of the most dynamic duos in school history. They led the Gauchos to the NCAA Tournament in 2010 and 2011 before settling for the CIT this season.
"Those five seniors have had a lot of success for us," coach Bob Williams said. "They took us to back-to-back NCAA Tournaments, had 20-win seasons and really helped establish this program. I'll miss them, but I look forward to the future because we have a lot of good young players."
UC Santa Barbara will rebuild around freshman C Alan Williams, who looked dominant at times over the second half of the season. Williams averaged 6.9 points and 6.6 rebounds this season. He averaged 8.4 points and 7.8 rebounds over the last 19 games. He also set a UC Santa Barbara freshman record with 40 blocked shots. He grabbed a season-high 13 rebounds against UC Irvine on Jan. 14 and had a season-high 19 points on 6-of-8 shooting against Cal State Northridge on Feb. 2.
UC Santa Barbara had a school-record 161 blocked shots this season. Somogyi, a 7-foot-3 center, finished second in school history with 189 blocks. Serna finished seventh with 82.
